This Saved my Kitchen!

My house is 15 years old, which is not all that old for a house.  In fact, when we bought the house, it was brand new. The carpeting has been replaced maybe once in the den and hallway. However, my ceramic tiling in the kitchen has never once been replaced. And who would think to replace it anyway? But during the 15 years while living here, lots has happened. I had two kids, and several years ago my husband and I got a dog.

The kids kept dropping their toys on the kitchen floor. These toys are definitely far from light as well. My son had this tendency to drop his toy truck over and over again. Nothing unusual for little boys. My daughter dropped her toy oven on the kitchen floor too and that thing weighed a tonne. That made some obvious dents and nicks on the floor. My dog's nails left nicks as well. Not to mention those times when I had dropped and shattered glass!!! Oh the ceramic floor looks beyond awful!! It is time for a change and it just needs to go.

I had no idea where to turn to get new flooring, so I looked online and not only did I discover where to get new flooring but I found out that if I were to replace the kitchen floor, I would be best to not get ceramic tiling again. I discovered that laminate flooring is the best type of flooring to get for your kitchen, or anywhere in the house. Especially with young kids and pets.

I searched and searched where to get it and to find a good installation company. I found where to buy best laminate flooring! I was so happy because from the sounds of it the company where I purchased it from had a wonderful reputation for their products and installation service.

But I will share with you what I had learned about why laminate flooring is better than ceramic, or wooden flooring for that matter (not that it is ever ideal to have wooden flooring in the kitchen anyway). That is if you have a young family and pets anyway.

Laminate flooring is so resistant to abuse! You can drop as many heavy objects on there as you want, and shatter as many glass cups and plates as you want and no nick will ever show. Therefore if your pet is walking on it for years, you will never see it.

It is also very clean! Meaning that if you spill something on it, with a wet rag with some soap and a wipe, the mess is gone and no stain is present. With ceramic tiling that is not a problem either. But with carpeting (not that you would have carpeting in your kitchen, I would hope anyway) or with wooden flooring, a stain is always present after a spill and that attracts bacteria. Yuck. With laminate flooring that is nothing to worry about. Not to mention wooden flooring warps if enough water or anything is spilled on it overtime. With this flooring that is also not a worry.

Laminate flooring is inexpensive. Easy to install as well, where as ceramic tiles can take a long time and it is more of a difficult and costly process. Not to mention laminate flooring looks nice, and has many colors and styles to choose from.

However, if you want to purchase carpeting for your den, bedrooms, living room, dining room and hallway, the best kind to purchase if you have a young family is Berber carpeting. It is wool based and resistant to footprints and stains as well. You will want to find the best place to buy carpet! I will talk more about Berber carpet another time. But if you are ready to get new flooring in your home, be sure to evaluate your needs and find out what type of flooring is best for your living situation!
